If you’re reading this, you’re probably interested in finding out why we’re introducing shea butter as an ingredient into some of our chocolate.

It’s a bit complicated, but bear with us.

Currently there is a global cacao crisis affecting all chocolate brands, small to big.

This was initially driven by massive shortfalls in the cacao harvest in West Africa in recent years, but particularly over the last year where huge rainfall led to fungal diseases in the cacao trees.

Cocoa butter, the fat from cacao - an essential ingredient in making chocolate — has increased in price by more than 400% in the last 12 months and become increasingly difficult to source.

So, our plan is to temporarily introduce shea butter alongside cocoa butter so we can continue producing chocolate without forcing prices up too much for chocolate fans.

100%, 90% and 72% cacao bars will not change, but the rest of our range will.
